One of Raul’s tutors in Cuba was Thomas Sanchez, who represents the best of South American art and is currently resident in Costa Rica. He is a Buddhist and seeks to bring a meditative state into his work. This painting is a thank you for the generosity of his teaching. This work has been underway for three years and still tempts Raul back to add more detail to the trees.
