RAUL SPEEK – ARTIST
paintings • prints • sculptures
Raul was born in Guantanamo, Cuba, in 1958, at the beginning of the Cuban Revolution. He lived and trained as an artist in Cuba until the early 1990s, when he took part in a BBC Arena documentary, which was filmed in Havana and focused on the young artists and writers from the area. As a result of this, Raul moved to London in 1991 and opened a studio in Spitalfields Market, where he met people like Gilbert and George, who lived nearby.
Raul moved to Pembrokeshire in 1995 where, together with his wife Heather, he opened Raul Speek Gallery at the Old Chapel in Solva. Today, he exhibits worldwide but the Old Chapel is his home and base. His work includes originals, limited edition prints, 3D works, and commissioned artwork such as murals.
A selection of multimedia original artworks by Raul showing a variety of styles and images.
Giclee prints on acid-free archive paper, produced from original works in limited runs.
Raul has an encouraging problem keeping up with demand for his series of fish! Metal sculptures and murals are on a commission basis.
‘Child of the Revolution’ is the first of a series showing the breadth of Raul’s work and his life experiences. Cards of his works are available in packs.
